What are your favorite movies to quote?

A Plinky prompt, writing practice post… and stuff.

I quote Pulp Fiction sometimes too much. “My name is Paul…”, “My name’s pit…” and a few others I won’t list here.

Sometimes life mirrors fiction that reflects life, and you don’t realize it until your all up in the moment and it’s too late to get out.

There was a night almost eight years ago when I, like Vincent was faced with a decision. I also like Vincent got more than I bargained for. (Thankfully my situation didn’t have anything to do with drugs.)

I have been quoting or paraphrasing a lot of Pulp Fiction lately. I think it’s a side effect of being disappointed with people around me. Things that common sense would/should tell them to do… they haven’t been doing.

Me: “Describe what you see on that screen.” Them: “Huh?”

Me: “Describe what you see on that screen…” Them: “Umm, the information about the company.”

Me: “Do you see where you edit their details?” Them: “Yeah” Me: “So do you see the _______?” Them: “Umm, no.”

Me: “I know you can see the screen, I know you can see the text, so why don’t you see the part you need to fix?” Them: “Huh? Oh sorry, I wasn’t paying attention…”

The rest happens in my mind:

I look at the audience and say “I know they didn’t just say that, tell me they didn’t say that.” As my mental character throws a phonebook on their desk: “Oh I’m sorry, did I break your concentration?? Did you or did you not just get through two days of training on this stuff??” -And you can imagine the rest, just not as violent as Pulp Fiction’s scene.

Other times like while I am writing this I am reminded of the movie Friday. Sometimes I throw in a line or two from the movie “Friday”: “Lord have mercy! …he knows what I want!”

I used to quote the Matrix, but that was a simpler time with fewer boxed in minds around me.

I used to quote The Matrix because I saw it enough times when it was in the theaters and when it came out on video cassette. The cassette version I watched so many times the tape began to wear and not play well.

“Man, I don’t even have an opinion…” BOOM
