I was interviewed for one of our company newsletters:
MEET MARK WOODHAMS
Computer & Information Systems Manager
Q: When did you start working at the Chamber?
A: I actually interned at the chamber from October 2002 till December of 2002. My predecessor got a scholarship to a school out west, so when he left I stepped in.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working at the Chamber of Commerce?
A: Being a part of so many things that go on around us. Being able to meet and hear from so many people from all walks of life.
Q: One word that best describes how you work: “Burst”
A: A lot of my job includes routine day-to-day checklists, troubleshooting, and working behind the scenes. Mine is not a job where you receive a lot of recognition, mine is one where if people are able to do their jobs, then you are doing it right. The other part of my job is putting out fires (metaphorically), triage of systems and equipment, and helping the co-workers.
Q: How do I handle my time?
A: A weekday, (generally speaking) runs from 8-5 at work. Weekends and after work I go 80-90% offline. I spend as little time as I can on the phone/computer and only check social media generally two or three times a day. I enjoy reading; a good book, something to drink, and some music in the background, it takes me to other worlds.
Q: Favorite Apps/what makes work and life easier:
A: Evernote, Gmail, Pandora, Google Docs, Dropbox, Join.me, Feedly
Q: Other interests
A: Sometimes I beta test stuff which I can’t always talk about; I am a Young Professionals member for more than five years; I recently rediscovered my fondness for craft beer (in moderation of course).
