My personal tablet

(This is the second post in a series.)

He has kept things running at his current job using minimum resources, lots of patience, and an interesting variation of stubborn loyalty. When others would have bailed, he stuck with it to see his plans change and go to fruition. He has been in charge of websites, networks, podcasting, social network monitoring and information dissemination, among other things.

He has two tablets (three if you count his Nook Color), one for work and one that is his personal. This post deals with his own tablet, the Motorola Xoom.
  • Tablet: Motorola Xoom 4g/wifi
  • Alerts: no audible, just the tray notifications.
  • On the main screen: Four shortcuts for apps, nine widgets.
  • Case: It is one that Verizon sold me. It folds back to lay the tablet flat on a table, folds so that it becomes a stand, and can fold in such a way that it allows me not to have to remove the case when sitting the tablet in a dock to recharge.
  • Background: Naruto in his six-tailed form about to pounce on someone/something. I found it on the web somewhere.
  • Last email:  An article link on the culture of start-ups. Sent to me to read later.
  • The last app I used: Evernote, to write a draft of this post.
  • Currently obsessed with: Chrome browser because I can leave my desktop and pull up what I was reading via it’s bookmark and tab sync. (I posted about my fondness of this a little while back.)
  • Last download: I had to reload Hootsuite due to some weird stuff it was doing.
  • Most surprising app on the home screen: The TBS Big Bang Theory sync app.
  • Text or call: Normally Tablets don’t do either, I have Google Voice loaded, and if someone texts me via the GV number then I will reply from there.
  • Remaining battery: 93%. I have been on my laptop most of the day so far.

My Phone

(This is the first post in a series.)

He carries two phones, work and a personal. This post deals with his own phone.

  • Phone: Motorola Droid Razr Maxx
  • Ringtone: When I downloaded it, the name was “business_classic_cel”. It’s the ringtone that Dexter Morgan in the Showtime series “Dexter” has on his phone.
  • Case: It is one that Verizon sold me. It has a holster, and the back of the phone has a fold out stand. I don’t use the holster much, but I use the stand for when I am listening to music at my desk or while charging so if someone calls I only have to glance over to see who it is and not pick up the phone.
  • Background: It’s the “Bazinga!” logo that used for the t-shirts for Sheldon Cooper on the series “Big Bang Theory”.
  • Last text: to a friend and co-worker about a mms they sent me.
  • Last app I used: The last two I used were Gmail and Evernote. Checking email on three accounts and making a note for next week.
  • Currently obsessed with: Evernote, I have been a long time user, I form my posts using it, and then revise them, and then post them.
  • Last Download: Kingsoft Office, I am trying it out on the phone to see if it can do some Microsoft Office document edits quickly enough. (Though on a phone, some things are never as easy as they should be.)
  • Most surprising app on the home screen: Freely, I was using it to see if I liked how they handle RSS feeds, given that Google Reader will be closing up shop soon. I don’t like the tile-like showing of the feeds.
  • Text or call: Text, I don’t like to talk on the phone unless it is brief.
  • Remaining battery: 90%. It’s early in the day, its a weekend, and its quiet for once.
